Futurethinking

I've had my days of doubt over whether I'd be okay living by myself. I mean, whether I'd be able to manage the making of food for self, keeping the place clean and all that. Now, I can be a lean, mean cleaning machine if I have a little music, so I was never worried about that so much. But I have always wondered about the rest. I mean, I can cook, it's not like I'm going to starve or anything, but, you know? Can I handle the bigger stuff? Will I survive in the long run? I've always been half afraid to think so.

But it's when you suddenly realise you're starving at half past midnight, after having just sent your mother off to sleep 'cause she was nodding off in front of the TV, and fifteen minutes later end up chowing down a triple-egg, mega cheese-heavy omelette, seasoned with oregano and pepper, shallow fried in purified butter till golden brown with chopped tomatoes, chillies, with multi-grain bread drowning in butter on the side, that you start to realise you're going to be okay.

so you were basically worried only about cooking

One of the bigger worries is food, yes.
Bear attacks, alien abduction and hair clogging the drain are other major worries.

@ paradox.
So how did you survive? Find a good maid? Because I'm most likely going to end up doing that. If I ever get my own place.

with your current salary you obviously cant.

But then if I can survive on my own any one can.

Ofcourse there are *SACRIFICES* and *COMPROMISES* to be made but nothing too bad. Usually.

@ Che.
What's with the code at the bottom? Password to get to this level directly?

Paradox Philic said...

Yes the trick is either finding a one man army who would take care of the entire house chores for you or being resourceful in bits and pieces i.e. finding the right people for the job as and when the crisis happen...

And let me know whenever you get your own place... (even if i cant help with all that mentioned above) can atleast bring you a housewarming gift :)

@Paradox:

With the property rates in mumbai getting higher and higher, for the flats the people like us can afford a 40w bulb is good enough to warm it up.

@ Gina.
One man army? Find me a trustworthy male housekeeper in this city, and I'll show you a cross dresser. And in my case, being resourceful in bits and pieces would be me attacking one room at a time. =P
And seeing how my salary is being mentioned so much anyway, at this rate, Gina, you better warm up that purse, 'cos I'm going to need a housewarming gift by 2057.

@ Manik.
I don't need your email password, I'll get by without spying on you.

Well i guess i have just been plain lucky then... All 6 years of my staying in Delhi, i had this luxury, so i guess i am still a stranger to the harsh realities of city life.So cant offer any more tips.
:)

And 2057?? Really? I mean c'mmon... are you telling me that none of my overflowing optimism rubbed off on you?? Awwwwwwww.
